Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon and the northern lights

BusTravel Iceland packs a whole winter day into one ticket: the Golden Circle and Kerið crater by daylight, a soak in the Blue Lagoon, free time in Reykjavík, then a northern lights hunt from 21:30. Pick it if you only have a day or two and want the three big things in one go.

Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon & Northern Lights

About this experience

This is a 15-hour day in three parts. By daylight it's the Golden Circle: Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall and Kerið crater (entry ticket included). Then the Blue Lagoon with a Comfort ticket, which includes a towel, a silica mask and one drink at the in-lagoon bar. Then free time in Reykjavík for dinner, at your own cost, before the evening pickup at 21:30 for a northern lights hunt with hot chocolate.

The value is in the logistics. One booking covers transport, an English-speaking guide, Wi-Fi, the lagoon entry and the Kerið ticket, and the operator's page runs the aurora part as a small-group minibus tour. If the night hunt doesn't produce the lights, you can join BusTravel's northern lights tour again on another night for free. BusTravel decides around 4 p.m. whether the night tour runs, and its rules page gives a three-year window for rescheduling.

The cost is your energy. Fifteen hours is long, the aurora part starts after a full day of sightseeing and a hot soak, and you get back late. Nobody under 14 can join. Bring swimwear (rental costs extra). If you have three or more days, splitting this into a day tour and a separate night hunt such as the 4x4 tour is less tiring and gives you more nights to try.

  • Þingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss and Kerið crater in one day
  • Blue Lagoon Comfort entry: towel, silica mask and a drink
  • Free time in Reykjavík for dinner
  • A small-group northern lights hunt from 21:30
  • Free retry of the aurora hunt on another night

Tips before you book

  • Pack swimwear, a small towel bag and a dry layer in your day bag. Swimsuit rental costs extra.
  • Wear layers, comfortable shoes, a rain jacket, a hat and gloves, as BusTravel advises.
  • Eat a proper dinner in the free time. The night hunt runs late.
  • Book it early in your stay so the free aurora retry has nights left.
  • Bring a power bank: a 15-hour day will drain your phone before the lights show.
